I’ll Show You… Synecdoche, New York (2008)

Welcome to another episode of I’ll Show You Mine! This week we’re doing a little April Fools switcheroo and James is showing Elyse a movie she’s never seen, ‘Synecdoche, New York’ from 2008, written and directed by Charlie Kaufman. A postmodern drama, ‘Synecdoche, New York’ follows the life of Caden Cotard, a theatre director trying to stage his biggest production yet while managing his relationships with the women in his life.

Join us as we talk about the absolute weirdness of this movie, the anxiety of feeling like you’re sleepwalking through life, and the creative blocks that can stop you from ever making progress with your art, if you let them.

Our next episode will be May 14th, when Elyse shows James ‘Late Spring’ from 1949.

Our theme song is by us! James Sparkman and Elyse Wietstock.
