I’ll Show You… Sweet Charity (1969)

Welcome to another episode of I’ll Show You Mine! This week, Elyse is showing James another favorite Shirley MacLaine movie, the 1969 musical Sweet Charity. The story of a hopeful taxi dancer looking for love in New York City, Sweet Charity follows MacLaine as Charity Hope Valentine, getting into all manner of trouble and adventures in her search for true love and a new life.

Join us as we talk about the somewhat odd editing choices in choreographer Bob Fosse’s first feature film as a director, the wonderful energy of Charity’s workplace, the Fandango Ballroom, and the women who work there, and the bubbly effervescence of Shirley MacLaine making us fall in love all over again.

Our next episode will be September 25th, when James shows Elyse The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past from 1992, for the Super Nintendo.

Our theme song is by us! James Sparkman and Elyse Wietstock.
