I’ll Show You… In the Mood for Love (2000)
Welcome to a new episode of I’ll Show You Mine! This time, Elyse is showing James ‘In the Mood for Love’ from 2000. Part of an informal trilogy about love, time, and loss from Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai, ‘In the Mood for Love’ tells the story of Chow Mo-wan (Mr. Chow) and Su Li-zhen (Mrs. Chan), neighbors in 1960s Hong Kong who develop feelings for each other when they realize their spouses are having an affair.
Join us as we talk about the vibes, the cinematography, and the raw star power of Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung in this evocative masterpiece.
Our next episode will be July 10th, when James shows Elyse ‘Pong: The Next Level’ from 1999.
Our theme song is by us! James Sparkman and Elyse Wietstock.
